United States Consumer Product Safety CommissionThe United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, otherwise known as the CPSC, has a mission to protect the public (consumers) from the unsafe / unreasonable risks of death or injury linked to consumer products. The injury to a child has a ripple effect through a family and community. For all consumers injured as a result of unsafe consumer product, it is estimated that it costs over $1 trillion annually. The CPSC is instrumental in instituting recalls and warnings of unsafe products including but not limited to toys, bedding, pajamas, lighters, chemicals, and thousands of other household items and products.
